Summary/Objective:
Midwest Construction Group is seeking a strategic, detail-oriented Finance & Administration Manager to support the company’s continued growth. This role will own financial operations, job cost visibility, payroll/HR administration, and core business infrastructure processes.
The ideal candidate brings construction accounting experience, strong systems discipline, and the ability to grow into a senior financial leadership role as MCG scales.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys building processes, improving systems, and supporting a growing organization.
Essential Functions:

• Finance & Accounting
o Oversee job cost accounting and project profitability tracking
o Maintain WIP schedules and revenue recognition tracking
o Manage A/R, A/P, and collections
o Coordinate AIA billing and subcontractor documentation
o Monitor cash flow and provide monthly financial reporting\
o Support budget development and forecasting
o Assist in banking relationships and line-of-credit reporting
• Construction Accounting
o Monitor project costs and labor reporting
o Track retainage and contract billings
o Review subcontractor compliance documentation
o Assist project managers with financial reporting
o Improve financial visibility into project performance
• Payroll & HR Administration
o Administer payroll for all employees
o Coordinate benefits (health, 401k, etc.)
o Manage onboarding and compliance documentation
o Maintain insurance and subcontractor COI tracking
• Operational Infrastructure
o Implement and refine accounting and financial systems
o Support software and process improvements
o Maintain vendor records and compliance files
o Develop standardized reporting dashboards
• Any other reasonable duties and responsibilities that may be assigned
Required Education and Experience
• 5–8+ years of construction accounting or financial operations experience
• Strong understanding of job costing and WIP reporting
• Experience with AIA billing and subcontractor management
• Payroll and HR administration familiarity
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to work in a growing, entrepreneurial environment
Preferred:
• Experience supporting a small-to-mid sized GC
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• QuickBooks or construction ERP experience
