    Description

    Family Medicine Physician Assistant

Patients do not need another handoff. They need a clinician who owns the visit, the plan, and the follow-through. In this family medicine role you will turn a full schedule into clear diagnoses, treatment patients can actually use, and continuity that keeps a panel well between crises. Access and judgment are the work—not documentation for its own sake.

    Performance Objectives

    • Carry a defined primary-care panel and complete same-day and scheduled visits with a diagnosis, plan, and next step the patient understands before leaving.
    • Control chronic disease—diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD, and related conditions—by adjusting therapy until targets are met or the case is escalated with a clear rationale.
    • Close care gaps by ordering, interpreting, and acting on labs, imaging, and screenings so preventive and chronic work does not stall in the inbox.
    • Deliver immunizations, cancer screening, and lifestyle counseling so eligible patients leave with the service done or scheduled.
    • Resolve acute complaints in clinic—infection, injury, pain, medication issues—so avoidable emergency visits decline.
    • Close charts the same day to a standard that supports coding, continuity, and peer review without rework.
    • Coordinate nursing, physicians, and specialists so referrals, results, and after-visit instructions are complete and tracked.

    Environment & Resources

You will practice in an outpatient family medicine clinic beside physicians, nurses, and medical assistants. An EHR, on-site lab draw, and established referral pathways are already in place. You report to the lead physician or medical director, with a defined panel, a set schedule, and protected charting time rather than open-ended float coverage.

    Essential Qualifications

    • Graduate of an accredited PA program with current NCCPA certification.
    • Active state license and DEA registration, or the ability to secure both before start.
    • Outpatient family medicine or primary-care experience managing acute visits and chronic disease, including a panel you can describe.
    • EHR skill sufficient to close charts the same day and support accurate coding.
    • Proven patient education and shared decision-making across the ages this panel serves.
    • Current BLS; ACLS if the site includes higher-acuity same-day care.

    Role Selling Points

    • A named panel and physician partnership—not unsupervised volume.
    • Clinical autonomy to own the plan, with backup when the case needs it.
    • A predictable outpatient schedule and protected documentation time.
    • Success measured by panel control, access, and clean handoffs—not inbox heroics.

If you want primary care where your decisions show up in a healthier panel, apply with the conditions you manage best and the panel size you have carried.
