Founded in 1921, CPOA advances professionalism, leadership, and collaboration across California’s law -enforcement community, representing members from state, county, and municipal agencies. Through statewide training, legislative advocacy, and regional engagement, CPOA provides a unifying forum for peace officers and non -sworn professionals.

The association partners closely with POST, the California Police Chiefs Association, and the California State Sheriffs’ Association, while maintaining a distinct multi -disciplinary voice. Key Tasks & Responsibilities<\/span><\/b>

  • Provide overall leadership and direction to staff, contractors, and volunteers.<\/span><\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Develop and execute the annual operating budget and long -term financial plan.<\/span><\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Liaise with the Board of Directors; prepare agendas, reports, and recommendations.<\/span><\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Lead strategic planning processes and ensure execution of adopted goals.<\/span><\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Maintain compliance with California labor law, nonprofit regulations, and federal reporting.<\/span><\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Represent CPOA with stakeholders: members, partners, and policymakers.<\/span><\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Liaise with legislative advocate and coalition partners to share CPOA policy positions.<\/span><\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Supervise training, events, and sponsorship opportunities.<\/span><\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Supervise membership, marketing, communications, and component relations.<\/span><\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Process payroll, oversee accounting, and participate in marketing and social media.<\/span><\/span>

  • Ensure proper administration of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 100 operations.<\/span><\/span>

  • Serve as CEO/ED for subsidiary and/or related organizations.<\/span>

    Requirements<\/h3>
    • BA (MA a plus) in nonprofit management, business, public administration, or related field.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
      <\/span><\/li>
    • Minimum 3 -5 years of progressively responsible association leadership.<\/span><\/span>
      <\/span><\/li>
    • Demonstrated track record in board relations and governance.<\/span><\/span>
      <\/span><\/li>
    • CAE (Certified Association Executive) or equivalent such as IOM or RCE.<\/span><\/span><\/span>

      Benefits<\/h3>
      CPOA utilizes a hybrid model with an office in Sacramento and is transitioning to 100% remote by Dec. 2028. Employees are in -office two days per week. Flexible scheduling is permitted. CPOA provides the necessary equipment and supplies for home offices such as laptop, monitor, printer, phone, and supplies.
