Engineer, ME Production Support

Job Purpose

The Functional Test Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the development of Functional Test Process and equipment needed for manufacturing in coordination with the design engineering function to show compliance of Honda Aircraft Company products. The Functional Test Manufacturing Engineer will work with Design Engineering during the development of products to; ensure compliance to design parameters set by engineering, evaluate and help develop efficient test processes, develop tooling requirements, and define support equipment required for the functional testing. The Functional Test Manufacturing Engineer will also evaluate, define and support the implementation of functional test process improvements during the manufacturing of Honda Aircraft Company products.

Key Accountabilities

• Develop documentation and procedures to ensure compliance specific to customer, regulatory production requirements, and specifications, and solutions for functional test issues relating to materials, manufacturing processes and/or the tooling.
• Identify and approve tooling required for Functional Tests, creating new Tooling Requests, coordinating the procurement, receipt, and the acceptance of said tooling.
• Review for accuracy and compliance and approve all Engineering FTP and rigging documents
• Prepares and updates production functional test planning; to include BOM configuration and control.
• Plan and document various functional test processes, tooling, equipment and quality control methods to optimize the functional test operations; Ensures completed tasks have been performed and inspected in accordance with HACI standards.
• Interprets engineering documents to determine requirements meet functional test objectives.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, or other related field experience strongly preferred
• 3 yrs of experience strongly preferred
• Lean training is a plus
• Strong working knowledge of reading and interpreting engineering drawing and specification requirements required
• Strong working knowledge with SAP, CAD CAM, Catia, Microsoft Office suites required
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to understand wiring drawings.
• Strong skills in mechanical and airframe and power plant technical support including installation, repair, and fabrication support.
• Strong interpersonal skills and judgment in mechanical repair and fabrication situations and in addressing engineers and their design and modification needs.
• Strong knowledge of glass cockpit mechanical systems; troubleshooting; ringing out; wiring diagrams; wiring needs; and wiring practices, mods, and terminations.
• Ability to interface with internal engineering support and outside suppliers and vendors and project a good professional image.
• Ability to analyze a variety of engineering data to help determine how to meet company objectives
• Ability to perform vendor cost analysis versus internal costs to determine best location for manufacturing
• Project management experience as a manufacturing engineer
• Should show proven experience with project management in a fast-paced work environment having reported out progress to peers, direct supervision, and upper management with experience in plant floor scheduling, creating project files, Gantt charts, process flow charts, track job progress, resource allocation, etc.
• Individuals must be a self-starter able to work under minimal supervision
• Experience in an IPT (Integrated Product Team) Member.
• Promote and contribute to overall team environment, harmony, etc. is a must

Working Conditions

1. Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.

2. Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.

3. Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (Federal Aviation Administration, Occupational Safety Health Administration, Department Of Transportation, Enviromental Protection Administration, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).

4. Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties.

5. Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.

6. Effectively communicate in Business English language.

7. Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties.

8. Pull, push, carry, lift or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more during the work shift, with the use of Company provided "reach assistance technology" or "movement assist technology" (fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly's, robotics reach equipment, people movers etc.), as required by job duties.
