    Electrical Engineer II

    Position Overview

The Electrical Engineer II is responsible for the design, development, testing, and improvement of electrical and electromechanical systems used in complex industrial equipment. This role works closely with electrical, mechanical, controls, software, and manufacturing engineers to develop reliable systems from initial concept through validation and production.

The position provides an opportunity to work on sophisticated mobile and industrial machinery involving power distribution, motor controls, automation, control systems, and other electromechanical technologies.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on electrical engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and working across multiple engineering disciplines. Experience with industrial equipment, heavy machinery, automation, or other complex electromechanical systems is highly valuable.

    Typical Duties & Responsibilities

    • Design, develop, and maintain electrical and electromechanical systems for complex industrial equipment.

    • Develop electrical system architectures and detailed designs based on system requirements and performance specifications.

    • Design and integrate electrical power distribution systems, control systems, motor controls, and related electrical components.

    • Work with AC and DC electrical systems, including higher-voltage power distribution and electrical traction applications.

    • Develop and integrate control systems involving PLCs, variable frequency drives, motor controls, sensors, and other industrial automation technologies.

    • Support the design and integration of engine, generator, and auxiliary power systems.

    • Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and other engineering documentation.

    • Collaborate with mechanical, controls, software, manufacturing, and other engineering disciplines to ensure successful system integration.

    • Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations related to electrical and electromechanical systems.

    • Lead or support electrical engineering projects from concept and design through testing, validation, and production.

    • Develop test plans and participate in design validation, troubleshooting, and system testing.

    • Investigate technical issues and develop practical engineering solutions.

    • Support manufacturing, field service, and other internal teams with electrical and technical issues.

    • Provide technical direction and guidance to less experienced engineers and engineering designers when appropriate.

    • Review existing systems and identify opportunities for improvements in reliability, performance, safety, cost, and manufacturability.

    • Ensure designs meet applicable electrical standards, safety requirements, and engineering best practices.

    • Travel occasionally to support equipment inspections, testing, troubleshooting, or other engineering activities.

    • Perform additional engineering responsibilities as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering program.

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience developing and maintaining electrical or electromechanical systems.

    • Experience designing, troubleshooting, or integrating electrical systems used in complex equipment or machinery.

    • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and the ability to apply them to practical engineering problems.

    • Ability to work effectively with engineers and technical professionals across multiple disciplines.

    • Ability to participate in and lead technical design reviews.

    • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

    • Ability to communicate technical information effectively with both engineering and non-engineering personnel.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with industrial automation and machine control systems..

    • Experience with motor controls and variable frequency drives.

    • Experience with 480VAC or other higher-voltage electrical systems.

    • Experience with AC/DC power systems or electrical traction systems.

    • Experience with generators, engine controls, or mobile power systems.

    • Experience designing electrical systems for heavy equipment, industrial machinery, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, material handling equipment, transportation equipment, or other complex electromechanical products.

    • Experience developing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel designs.

    • Experience with electrical system architecture and subsystem integration.

    • Experience with electrical system testing, validation, and troubleshooting.

    • Experience providing technical direction to engineers, designers, or technicians.

    • Familiarity with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and industrial engineering practices.

    • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.

    Ideal Candidate

The strongest candidates will have an electrical engineering background combined with hands-on experience developing electrical systems for complex machinery or equipment.

Candidates with backgrounds in heavy equipment, industrial machinery, automation, robotics, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, material handling, mobile equipment, generators, or other electromechanical systems may also be strong fits.

The role is best suited for an engineer who can move beyond individual component design and understand how electrical, controls, mechanical, and power systems work together as a complete machine.
