Director of Human Resources
SafetyCall International (SCI) is looking for a seasoned HR leader to serve as our Director of Human Resources. In this role, you'll own the full spectrum of HR — from strategic planning and budgeting to employee relations and payroll to recruiting, benefits, and compliance — while leading a team of 4 HR professionals supporting approximately 350 employees across 26 states. You'll drive the HR Strategic Plan, shaping and executing initiatives that align with company-wide goals, while serving as both a trusted advisor to senior leadership and a hands-on operator who works alongside their team to get things done.

Location: Remote or hybrid for those within 45 miles of the Bloomington, MN home office. Occasional local/national travel required. Remote staff must be willing to travel onsite 4-6 times/year for various meetings and events.
What You'll Do
- Lead, develop, and support a team of 4 HR professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing HR function
- Serve as the HR leader for a workforce of ~350 employees spanning 26 states, ensuring consistent and compliant practices across all locations
- Own the HR Strategic Plan — defining initiatives, aligning to company goals, and managing the HR budget
- Develop and oversee the HR payroll and budget, tracking spending and reporting status regularly to the VP of Administration
- Define and track key employee metrics — including FTE counts, turnover, and other workforce trends — to inform strategic decisions and report to senior leadership
- Lead all employee relations, investigations, and performance management, advising HR team, supervisors and senior leadership on complex situations including PIPs, disciplinary actions, and terminations
- Oversee and participate in managing FMLA, ADA, and Workers' Comp cases and ensure company-wide compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Oversee full-cycle recruiting and participate in recruiting process as needed.
- Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs — enrollments, COBRA, open enrollment planning, invoice approvals, and broker relations.
- Oversee the processing of biweekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance across all states
- Champion employee morale and engagement, working proactively with the HR team, Directors and managers on culture and team health
- Develop and deliver management training
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field and at least 8 years of HR experience, including 5+ years at a management level
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification highly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of employment law (MN PSSL, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and more), multistate preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop HR teams and advise leaders at all levels
- High degree of discretion and ability to handle confidential matters with professionalism
- Experience supporting a remote workforce preferred
- Experience working with multi-state payroll preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and HRIS/payroll software
- Ability to adapt quickly, prioritize competing demands, and stay solution-focused under pressure

This is an exempt, salaried position with a starting range of $100,000-130,000/year. Pay will vary based on education and experience and will be discussed further in the interview process.
