DIRECTOR, GRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION (GME)
Reports to: Chief Academic Officer
# of Direct Reports: 175-200 FTEs
On-site: Mercy Anderson Hospital, Mercy Fairfield Hospital, and The Jewish Hospital
Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Director, Graduate Medical Education (GME) provides strategic and operational leadership for Graduate Medical Education across the organization and serves as a senior leader responsible for the quality, growth, accreditation, and administration of the institution's residency and fellowship programs. The Director establishes and executes the GME strategy in alignment with organizational priorities and ensures the Sponsoring Institution and its programs maintain compliance with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), institutional, specialty-specific, and other applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.
The Director provides leadership and oversight to GME management and partners collaboratively with the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) or Lead Physician Director (LPD), Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC), clinical departments, faculty, participating sites, and academic partners to advance high-quality physician education. This position is accountable for GME operations, accreditation readiness, program performance, financial stewardship, workforce planning, educational quality, and the continued development and sustainability of the organization's GME portfolio.
Essential Job Functions
Education
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Education, Management, or related field (required).
Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Education, Public Health, or related (preferred).
