Description

Our client, a IT Services and Consulting company, is looking for a DB2 LUW Database Administrator – OpenShift/Kubernetes for their Charlotte, NC/ Raleigh, NC/Atlanta, GA/Remote location.
 
Responsibilities:
  • DB2 LUW Administration
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM DB2 LUW databases.
  • Design and manage High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) solutions.
  • Perform database performance tuning and optimization.
  • Monitor database health, storage growth, and resource utilization.
  • Manage backup, recovery, cloning, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Troubleshoot complex database issues and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Support database migrations and version upgrades.
  • Implement database security standards and compliance controls.
  • OpenShift / Kubernetes Administration
  • Deploy and manage DB2 databases on Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Configure StatefulSets, Persistent Volumes (PV), Persistent Volume Claims (PVC), and storage classes.
  • Manage DB2 deployments using Operators and container images.
  • Troubleshoot container, networking, and storage-related issues.
  • Collaborate with OpenShift platform teams for cluster upgrades and maintenance.
  • Support containerization and modernization initiatives.
  • Performance & Reliability
  • Analyze SQL execution plans and optimize complex queries.
  • Perform database capacity planning and forecasting.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting mechanisms.
  • Ensure database availability and SLA compliance.
  • Automation & DevOps
  • Develop automation scripts using Shell, Python, or Ansible.
  • Integrate database deployments into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate database provisioning, patching, health checks, and backup activities.
  • Support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps practices.
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • IBM DB2 and Red Hat OpenShift certifications are highly preferred.
  • Nice-to-Have Certifications
  • IBM Certified Advanced Database Administrator - DB2 LUW
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • Typical Client Requirement Summary
  • 9+ years of DB2 LUW DBA experience
  • 3+ years of OpenShift/Kubernetes experience
  • Strong expertise in HADR, Performance Tuning, Backup & Recovery
  • Experience supporting databases in containerized environments
  • Knowledge of CI/CD, Automation, and Linux Administration
  • Ability to lead production support, migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives.
  • Years of Experience:  10.00 Years of Experience
  • 9+ years of overall experience in Database Administration with strong expertise in IBM DB2 LUW, Linux Administration, and OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms.
  • Seeking a highly skilled Senior DB2 LUW Database Administrator with experience in managing mission-critical DB2 databases across both traditional and containerized environments.
  • The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of DB2 LUW administration, performance tuning, database migration, high availability solutions, automation, and OpenShift-based deployments.
  • Exposure to enterprise DevOps practices and cloud technologies is highly desirable.
