KDG Construction Consulting is seeking a highly motivated Construction Inspector to provide quality assurance and construction inspection services for large-scale building and infrastructure projects. This position supports inspection activities across multiple capital improvement and tenant improvement programs, with a primary focus on building disciplines.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience performing construction inspections on commercial, institutional, or public works projects, a strong understanding of building codes and accessibility requirements, and the ability to effectively coordinate with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform comprehensive daily inspections across building and terminal construction projects to ensure compliance with applicable codes, contract documents, and project specifications.
• Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), and change orders.
• Prepare detailed daily inspection reports documenting construction activities, progress, deficiencies, safety concerns, and corrective actions, clearly identifying the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW of work performed.
• Verify contractor compliance with applicable building codes, including local jurisdiction requirements and accessibility (ADA) standards.
• Support special inspections and testing activities in coordination with engineers, contractors, and third-party agencies.
• Track and document time-and-material work, field changes, and installed quantities as assigned.
• Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on approved schedules of values as assigned.
• Perform inspections of building construction activities including demolition, clearing and grubbing, excavation, trenching and shoring, grading and elevation surveys, structural backfill and compaction, and underground utility work.
• Inspect structural and architectural construction elements including concrete work, formwork, footings, micro piles, steel framing, drywall installation, interior finishes, doors and hardware, ceiling systems, and fire-rated assemblies.
• Verify installation of site utilities including sewer and storm drain systems.
• Utilize electronic document management and project management software to review construction documents, maintain inspection records, and support project documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers, contractors, engineers, consultants, and project stakeholders to resolve field issues and maintain construction quality.
• Perform additional project-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing construction inspections on commercial, institutional, industrial, or public works building projects.
• Strong understanding and ability to interpret building codes and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements.
• Training in fall protection equipment and harness/lanyard systems.
• Confined space awareness certification.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety training certification.
• NFPA 70E certification required for electrical inspection duties (as applicable to assigned scope).
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including day, swing, night shifts, weekends, and overtime as required to support construction activities.
• Ability to walk long distances, climb stairs and ladders, work on scaffolding, and access confined or restricted areas as required by construction activities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Bluebeam, PM Web, and similar construction document control systems.
• Strong ability to review and utilize electronic contract documents including drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with contractors, consultants, clients, and project stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
• ICC certifications and/or Deputy Inspector licenses.
• Experience inspecting large-scale building construction, including airports, terminals, and other complex public facilities.
• Experience with full project lifecycle construction inspection from demolition through final completion.
• Strong understanding of structural, architectural, and civil construction systems.
• Strong ability to identify deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Experience coordinating inspections with contractors, engineers, and testing agencies.
• Strong understanding of construction quality assurance practices and compliance requirements.
• Experience utilizing PM Web or similar project management software.

Anticipated Salary Range: $140,000.00 – $160,000.00 per year
