This position offers an exceptional opportunity to work with condominium, homeowner, cooperative, and community associations throughout Florida while advising boards of directors on the day-to-day legal and operational issues affecting their communities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in community association law, excellent communication skills, and the ability to serve as a trusted advisor to board members and property managers.
Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day legal counsel to condominium, homeowner, and cooperative associations.
Advise boards of directors on compliance with Florida condominium, homeowners' association, and cooperative laws.
Attend board meetings, annual meetings, membership meetings, and special meetings as needed.
Draft, review, and amend governing documents, including declarations, bylaws, rules, regulations, and policies.
Counsel clients on governance issues, fiduciary duties, elections, meetings, records requests, and covenant enforcement.
Provide guidance regarding reserve requirements, budgeting matters, and operational compliance.
Review and negotiate vendor and service contracts.
Advise clients on interpretation and enforcement of governing documents.
Assist associations with dispute avoidance and resolution strategies.
Conduct legal research and prepare opinions, memoranda, notices, and correspondence.
Collaborate with attorneys across various practice areas to provide comprehensive legal solutions for association clients.
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school.
Active membership in the Florida Bar and in good standing.
3+ years of experience in condominium and community association law preferred.
Experience advising condominium, homeowner, and cooperative associations on general representation matters.
Strong knowledge of Chapters 718, 719, and 720 of the Florida Statutes.
Experience attending and advising at board and membership meetings.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Strong client service orientation with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience representing luxury, mixed-use, high-rise, and master-planned communities.
Familiarity with covenant enforcement, governing document interpretation, and association operations.
Experience working directly with community association managers and board members.
