Persons in this position must exercise a high degree of initiative and independent judgment, and should have a general knowledge of Health Sciences Center policies and procedures as they relate to department financial management and personnel administration. Provide direct supervision to department staff personnel. Work is performed under usual office conditions; deadlines, meetings and maybe some travel. Additionally, work requires considerable contact and coordination with TTUHSC-EP administrative officials, administrative personnel of other departments and units, granting agencies, other institutions, and government organizations.44841BRUp to 25%

  • Responsible for conducting employee performance evaluations for all support staff within the Department.
  • Responsible for developing and monitoring broad and complex financial and management functions such as budgets, including grants and contracts, to ensure efficient utilization of financial resources.
  • Responsible for relieving Chair of various administrative duties.
  • Identification and development of new product lines and services offered to orthopaedic patient population. Works with marketing Dept. to effectively promote new and existing services to general public.
  • Responsible for instituting systems and procedures within the clinic to prevent duplication of function and service, to include establishing monitoring and control mechanisms required to affect improved operational systems and procedures. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission, Texas Medical Board, etc.
  • Oversees the communication and implementation of TTUHSCEP policies within the Department and develops internal policies and procedures.
  • Oversight and management of Human Resources related task to include recruitment & retention, salary

administration, employee counseling and mitigation, promotions\demotions, in-services\education and staff development.

  • Works with Institutional Advancement in coordinating, monitoring and implementing internal and external communication strategies for the department utilizing intranet and internet web services, newsletters, brochures and other forms of communication.
  • Manages or coordinates departmental group billing and collection activities, ensuring efficient

coordination with the billing department.

  • Holds membership in national and regional associations for department specialty.
  • Participates in regional yearly national and regional association conferences for networking opportunities and keeps abreast of all current trends.
  • Remain current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP

OPs, etc.).

  • Masters Degree in Business or Health Care Administration.
  • Three to five years health care management related experience in an academic medical center or health sciences center setting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and day to day management of department operation budgets..
  • Three years experience in conflict resolution and directing an employee workforce that provides health care services to the general public.
  • Prior experiences as a Department Manager or senior level supervisor in a state operated healthcare system preferably within the state of Texas.
