TITLE: Food Service Manager FTE: 1.0

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

WORK CALENDAR: 198 days

COMPENSATION: Classified Exempt Compensation Guide (Starting Salary: $36,259)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Work in cooperation with the Director of Food Services for production control in planning and directing the preparation and serving of all food in all meal service areas. Ability to work in a multifaceted role that requires you to change roles as needed day to day from food service worker, cook, cashier and manager.2.Work in cooperation with designated lead personnel to establish and assign duties, work expectations, and schedules for employees for assigned site3.Direct kitchen and employee sanitation procedures; directly responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen, offices and serving areas; directly responsible to meet Maricopa County Environmental Health expectations and pass health inspections4.Work with site administration with problems/concerns/scheduling in regards to meal service5.Oversee preparation and service of foods in accordance with daily menus6.Maintain production records, HACCP records and make reports as requested7.

Submit orders for food, supplies, commodities and small equipment as needed, using proper pricing methods

Train staff to assist in food orders

8.Submit inventories and other necessary reports as requested9.Direct and coordinate an orderly, organized and attractive office, kitchen, and storage area10.Responsible for all site caterings11.Evaluate all personnel under position's supervision including student workers12.Supervise and train new employees on equipment operation, SOP procedures, food safety and sanitation standards, daily workstation tasks, POS operations, inventory control, EOD reports and money count/deposit.13.Approve timesheets and submit to payroll 14.Balance daily meal sales/deposit monies15.Assume responsibility for the security of revenue from cafeteria collections until it has been turned over to the proper authorities16.Comply with MCES, USDA, FDA and ADE Rules & Regulations and OSHA requirements17.Conduct monthly meetings with cafeteria staff for continued National School Lunch training18.Represents consistently the District in a positive and professional manner19.Maintains confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues20.Provides a welcoming atmosphere in all areas of responsibility21.Performs responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner22.Maintains punctual and regular attendance23.Performs other job related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Education / Certificate

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED, but a college degree is preferable
  • Must possess and maintain a valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Must possess and maintain Food Protection Manager Certificate
  • Must possess and maintain Food Handler's Certification

Experience/Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of supervisory/leadership experience desirable
  • Minimum five years of experience in a student cafeteria environment position desirable
  • Superior time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well with others and with minimal supervision
  • Must be 21 years of age or older upon hire

Communication Skills

  • Strong writing, literacy and communication skills; uses effective communication strategies to interact with a variety of audiences and understand written procedures
  • Must possess ability to work cooperatively with parents, students, administrators, faculty, staff and general public
  • Must possess strong leadership skills
  1. Bilingual communication is beneficial

  2. Required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percent's, and/or ratios

Computer/Technology Skills

  • Knowledge of Google Suite, on-line ordering systems, POS software
  1. Must possess basic computing and clerical skills
