Job Title: Business Analyst - Multifamily Credit Policy & Underwriting
Location: McLean, VA
We are seeking an experienced Multifamily Credit Policy & Underwriting Business Analyst to support a strategic Multifamily Credit Policy Traceability Assessment for a leading financial services client.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in multifamily commercial real estate underwriting, credit policy analysis, and business requirements documentation. The role involves analyzing multifamily credit policies against Seller/Servicer Guide provisions, identifying gaps and inconsistencies, and developing detailed requirements traceability documentation.
ResponsibilitiesAnalyze Multifamily Credit Policy requirements and corresponding Seller/Servicer Guide provisions.
Decompose complex policy language into clear, discrete, and traceable business requirements.
Identify gaps, inconsistencies, conflicts, omissions, and differences in terminology, thresholds, conditions, and exceptions.
Apply multifamily underwriting expertise to interpret requirements related to loan origination, credit approval, and closing.
Review property financial performance, borrower financial position, market conditions, credit risk, loan structure, and risk mitigants.
Develop traceability matrices and supporting documentation with appropriate source references.
Collaborate with Credit Policy, Underwriting, business, and technology SMEs to validate findings and resolve interpretation questions.
Maintain requirements and analysis documentation using Jira, Confluence, and other approved tools.
Participate in peer reviews and quality assurance to ensure accuracy and completeness.
3+ years of Business Analyst and/or Systems Analyst experience.
1+ year of multifamily commercial real estate experience.
Strong understanding of multifamily commercial real estate lending and underwriting standards.
Experience analyzing credit policies, underwriting requirements, business requirements, procedures, or controls.
Ability to translate complex policy language into discrete, traceable business requirements.
Knowledge of multifamily loan underwriting, credit analysis, borrower financials, and property-level financial performance.
Experience with Jira and Confluence; familiarity with Bitbucket is a plus.
Basic technical knowledge of Java and AMQ/JMS or message-driven architecture.
Excellent analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Direct multifamily underwriting or credit experience.
Familiarity with Client or Fannie Mae Multifamily Seller/Servicer Guides.
Experience with conventional multifamily, Targeted Affordable Housing (TAH), student housing, seniors housing, or manufactured housing.
Experience with requirements traceability, policy-to-process mapping, or compliance assessments.
Familiarity with multifamily loan origination and underwriting systems.
Knowledge of affordable housing transactions and microservices architecture.
