    Professional law degree (Juris Doctorate/JD) from a recognized and accredited law school. Member of the bar of the highest court of a state or the District of Columbia.

    Associate must successfully complete the Health Insurance and Portability Accountability Act of 1996 training, course code 249F, concerning the handling of personal health information as required by HIPAA within three months of occupying the position. Until training has been completed, the associate may not perform any duties relating to personal health information. Eight years legal experience as a licensed and practicing attorney.

    GC EMPLYMNT LAW DIVISIN

    Represents the Exchange in various settings including federal and workers compensation litigation, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), and adverse action hearings. Authority to make decisions and commitments within limits of law and Exchange policy.

    Provides legal review of proposed business agreements, procurement actions, contract claims, bankruptcy/consumer credit issues, and congressional and command inquiries, employee benefits, collections, and tort.

    Practices preventive law which may include developing and conducting educational sessions regarding prevention of litigation and recommends changes to policy impacting the Exchange.

    Provides analysis of current and proposed laws and policy and provides counsel to Exchange directorates.

    Performs other duties as assigned.
