    XIn accordance with Washington state law, we are highlighting our comprehensive benefits package, which is available to all eligible US based employees. Benefits for this role include:

    • Paid Time Off: 20 days of vacation per year, accruing at a rate of 6.15 hours per pay period for the first five years of employment

    Minimum qualifications:

    • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
    • 3 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.
    • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Experience providing legal advice from product development to launch.
    • Experience in digital media, ad technology (ad tech), or programmatic advertising.
    • Understanding complex and emerging technologies and products, and for talking shop with product, engineering, and business teams.
    • Understanding of one or more major international regulations affecting online platforms and advertising (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, DMA, DSA, AIA, COPPA).
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues with clarity in writing and in meetings.

As an integrated part of the team, you proactively assess legal risks and advise on products that will not only move information into the 21st century, but move information law forward as well.

    As a Product Counsel on the Display and YouTube Ads Legal team, you will navigate the legal landscape of our global digital advertising products. You will partner directly with our product, engineering, and sales teams to develop, launch, and scale advertising solutions across the Google Display ecosystem, YouTube, and other key properties, ensuring compliance with the latest regulations worldwide and supporting the rapid evolution of the business in the era of AI adoption.

    You will be the lead product counsel for a variety of products within the Google Display business, including emerging products across web, mobile apps, and connected TV ecosystems.

    Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

    US: $217000 - $314000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

    Responsibilities

    • Act as the lead product counsel for new and existing Display Ads products, features, and policies, providing legal advice to product management, engineering, business, user experience, communications, ads privacy and safety (APAS) and other cross-functional teams.

    • Advise product and engineering teams on global regulations across privacy, competition, content, and kids regulations, including GDPR and US State privacy laws, DMA, DSA, AIA, and evolving AdTech regulations.

    • Develop and maintain legal strategy for advertising practices related to user data, ads personalization, and evolving consent and transparency frameworks, ensuring adherence to Google policies and privacy controls.

    • Develop and maintain legal strategy for competition inquiries and restrictions, including supporting the on-going global AdTech matters.

    • Partner with legal and regulatory affairs teams to prepare responses and defenses for regulatory inquiries and legal challenges in major markets (e.g., global competition issues).
