Wellness and Integrative Health at University of Utah Health is seeking an Associate Instructor to lead health and fitness programs as part of various wellness initiatives. A primary responsibility of this role is to teach U employee health and wellness classes through PEAK Health and Fitness. Additionally, the Associate Instructor will have opportunities to contribute to other wellness initiatives.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Teach group fitness classes.
  • Conduct health and fitness assessments.
  • Provide personal training services.
  • Offer individual wellness consultations.
  • Support wellness events, including movement breaks and health fairs.

This role requires strong relationship-building and communication skills, along with a demonstrated understanding of health and wellness principles. Applicants must show the ability to perform essential job functions as outlined.

CPR certification is required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a health-related field. Demonstrated relationship-building and effective communication skills also required.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of health and wellness.
  • Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences

  • Specific health and fitness certification required, i.e. ACSM, NSCA, YTT
  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field or equivalency.
  • One to three years' experience in fitness class instruction.
  • Experience working with a wide variety of individuals, including those with chronic disease or orthopedic complications.
