Yes Job Summary This is an Internal Employment Opportunity. The Office of Financial Aid is seeking a Alternative Loan Program Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position. Reporting to the Senior Assistant Director of Loans, the Financial Aid Alternative Loan Program Coordinator manages and oversees the daily operations of the university's private/alternative loan program, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, institutional policies, lender requirements, and industry standards. This role serves as a subject matter expert in private education loan processing, responsible for evaluating, certifying, and adjusting loans while maintaining effective internal controls and mitigating compliance risk. The Coordinator monitors loan origination and disbursement activity, identifies and resolves discrepancies, and ensures accurate reporting and reconciliation of loan funds in collaboration with leadership. Through analysis of loan data and processes, the position supports informed decision-making and recommends improvements to strengthen compliance, efficiency, and service delivery. In addition, the role provides consultation and guidance to students, families, and campus partners on private loan options, responsible borrowing, and financial literacy. The Coordinator develops and delivers educational resources and training while ensuring consistent application of regulatory requirements and institutional standards. This position operates with a high level of independence and accountability, supporting the Office of Financial Aid's compliance framework and contributing to the university's commitment to accurate, timely, and student-centered financial aid services. Key Responsibilities 50% PROCESSING LOAN ORIGINATION AND ADJUSTMENTS Serves as the lead compliance processor and decision-maker for private student loan certification requests, ensuring adherence to federal regulations, state laws, institutional policies, and lender-specific eligibility criteria Interprets and applies complex regulatory guidance to evaluate loan eligibility, resolve discrepancies, and ensure appropriate certification of private education loans Processes loan originations, adjustments, cancellations, and reallocations while ensuring compliance with internal controls and audit standards Monitors and reviews loan activity to identify and mitigate compliance risks, including overawards, enrollment changes, and census-related impacts Serves as a subject matter expert and primary liaison for lender and ELMOne system inquiries, providing consultation on compliance requirements and processing standards Reviews and approves cost of attendance and budget adjustments, ensuring alignment with regulatory limits and institutional policy Ensures accurate, timely, and compliant reporting of loan certifications, adjustments, and disbursement updates within system platforms Recommends process improvements to strengthen compliance controls, increase efficiency, and reduce risk exposure 15% SENDING AND RECEIVING ALTERNATIVE LOAN FILES Performs compliance monitoring of loan data exchanges by reviewing, troubleshooting, and resolving loan extraction and transmission errors Interprets lender response files and ensures updates to loan originations are accurate and compliant with regulatory and contractual requirements Processes and validates loan disbursement funding through ACH roster files, ensuring proper reconciliation and audit readiness Conducts regular aging report reviews to identify funds requiring return to lenders, ensuring compliance with eligibility rules and timelines Supports monthly reconciliation processes by analyzing discrepancies, validating data integrity, and ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards Documents processes and maintains records to support audit, compliance review, and regulatory reporting requirements 20% ADVISING Provides compliance-based advising to students and families regarding financial aid programs, ensuring accurate interpretation of federal regulations and institutional policies Counsels students on eligibility requirements, financial aid processes, and regulatory obligations, including completion of the FAFSA and loan responsibilities Advises students on Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements, interpreting federal standards and institutional policies to guide academic and financial decision-making Serves as a compliance resource for university staff, community partners, and external agencies regarding financial aid regulations and funding programs Collaborates across departments to ensure consistent application of policies and to support equitable access to financial aid resources 10% LOAN INDEBTEDNESS AND FINANCIAL LITERACY Develops and delivers financial literacy programming that promotes responsible borrowing and aligns with regulatory guidance on student loan counseling Creates educational materials and outreach initiatives to improve understanding of loan indebtedness, repayment obligations, and financial planning Provides training and presentations to students and stakeholders, incorporating compliance requirements and best practices in financial education Collaborates with campus partners to design and implement programs that mitigate student loan risk and support informed financial decision-making 5% OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Supports management with compliance reporting, data analysis, and special projects that inform operational and strategic decisions May participate in audits, program reviews, and compliance assessments, providing documentation and subject matter expertise as needed Maintains current knowledge of federal and state regulations, industry standards, and institutional policies through ongoing professional development Performs additional duties as assigned, including work outside standard hours to meet operational or compliance deadlines What You Will Need Bachelor's degree. Three years of experience as a Financial Aid Advisor/Counselor working in a Financial Aid Office, demonstrating ability to accurately award and revise financial aid according to Title IV aid regulations. Current working knowledge of Title IV financial aid programs and regulations. Experience working with underrepresented, high financial need student populations. Able to work independently with minimal oversight. Experience coordinating outreach, communications, and presentations for financial aid recipients. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. What We Would Like You to Have Master's Degree is Student Service Administration, Business, or other related field.
