The mission of the Secretary of States office is to serve the public by meeting its legal responsibilities of collecting, securing, and communicating information that enhances commerce, ensures the integrity of Louisianas elections, and preserves, presents, and makes accessible government information essential to Louisianas operations and its recorded history.

This position is at Louisianas Old State Capitol, one of the liveliest museums in the region. The person who fills this job will handle some administrative tasks, assist with tours and special events and more. We see 50,000 guests a year from all over the country, and the world. Looking for someone who is enthusiastic and willing to learn about all this National Historic Landmark has to offer.

AN IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES:

Accepting Direction: The ability to be open and willing to follow guidance or instructions.

Following Policies and Procedures: The ability to follow, reinforce, adapt, or develop policies and procedures to maintain compliance with federal and state legal requirements, State Civil Service rules, and organizational policies.

Managing Resources: The ability to manage financial, physical, and contractual resources to ensure compliance and maximize business value.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience in administrative services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Serve as an assistant to the Assistant Director.
  • Process requisitions/work with procurement.
  • General office support including answering phones, maintain files and mailing lists.
  • Maintain the OSC events calendar.
  • Timekeeping
  • Assist other areas within OSC as needed.
