Job Description

General Description:
The purpose of this position is to provide ENG/ESL administrative support to the division of Languages, Arts and Social Sciences at the Annandale campus. The administrative assistant helps to manage the day-to-day operation of the ENG/ESL office and help with other disciplines as needed.

Duties and Tasks:
  • Performs routine office support activities
  • Provide customer service to students and division visitors
  • Answers phones and emails
  • Assist with contacting students following course changes and enrollment cancellations
  • Helps enroll students in classes and helps them understand their schedules
  • Provides administrative support to the ENG/ESL Administrative Assistant, Associate Dean and ENG/ESL faculty
  • May be required to maintain records and filing systems
  • Applies knowledge of basic office practices, procedures and equipment (customer service, telephone computer, copier)
  • Serves as first point of contact for the division if needed
  • Applies knowledge of grammar, punctuation, spelling and basic mathematics
Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
