Job Title: Medical Assistant – Dermatology

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our fast-paced dermatology practice. The ideal candidate thrives in a busy clinical environment, provides excellent patient care, and supports providers with both clinical and administrative duties. Dermatology experience is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  • Room patients efficiently and prepare them for examination
  • Obtain and document patient medical histories, medications, and chief complaints
  • Assist providers with dermatologic procedures (biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, etc.)
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and maintain exam rooms
  • Perform basic clinical tasks such as wound care, suture removal, and dressing changes
  • Educate patients on post-procedure care and skincare regimens
  • Capture and upload clinical photographs when needed

Administrative Duties:

  • Accurately document visits in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Manage patient flow to maintain an efficient schedule
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-ups
  • Handle prior authorizations, referrals, and prescription requests
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant certification preferred
  • Previous experience in dermatology or a high-volume medical office is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
  • Proficiency with EMR systems
