Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Craniofacial and Surgical Care provides a diverse approach to treatment for patients with craniofacial or oral and maxillofacial conditions, including those with multiple or complex oral health problems. The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery discipline functions within the Adams School of Dentistry and UNC Hospitals and specializes in implant surgery, jaw tumors and disease, trauma surgery, cleft palates, facial cosmetic surgery and much more.

Position Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate all tasks involved with incoming and outgoing Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) and general practice residents (GPR). The OMFS residency program is a six-year program that includes a two-year rotation through the medical school. There are three new OMFS residents that enter the program each year. The general practice residency program is a one-year program that has six new residents each year. Due to the nature of UNC being a teaching university, coordinating all aspects of the students is critical to ensuring each resident remains in compliance with the standards of the program. This position requires the incumbent to work closely with the Graduate Medical Office and work in their database.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Management Preferences

Previous administrative experience with a graduate medical or dental program.

Required Licenses/Certifications Special Physical/Mental Requirements

Active movement throughout the day: sitting, walking, standing, squatting, bending, stooping, reaching, etc.

Vision: close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Hearing: able to satisfactorily communicate with patients, doctor, and other staff members to ensure that verbal communication is clearly understood, or a satisfactorily-equivalent method of communication.

Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or operate equipment.
