Position Overview

The Accounts Specialist Senior is responsible for managing the post-award financial activities related to contracts and grants programs awarded to the College by federal, state, local and private organizations.

What you will be doing

  • Manages College contracts & grant programs throughout the life of the programs

Duties including but not limited to following: establishes new accounts; monitors budget and actual spending; end of month accounting closing work; processes billings, reports, and cost transfers; prepares account reconciliations and analysis, close out accounts

  • Provides support to faculty and staff with any issues related to the post-award financial functions
  • Assists Account Service Manager & Assistant Controller for College's fiscal year-end processes as well as College's Annual Financial Reports
  • Participates in software and system implementation
  • Performs other duties as assigned

What you need to succeed

  • Associate's degree and three (3) years of related experience and knowledge of contracts and grants; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, outlook, and database software applications and office equipment (i.e. photocopier, printer, fax machine, calculator)
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures
  • Possess effective interpersonal skills in order to make sound judgments to decide how duties and responsibilities are completed between himself/herself and coworkers, the supervisory chain, faculty, staff, students and customers
  • Ability to think, reason, and make sound judgments to decide how duties and responsibilities are completed in compliance with college standards and guidelines
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate (both oral and written) effectively with students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to make arithmetical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to work with students, faculty, and staff
