    SUMMARY: A growing industrial services organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to support its Florida operations and help establish strong, scalable accounting processes across three locations.


    DUTIES OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities supporting the organization’s Florida operations.
    • Establish, document, and improve accounting processes, controls, reporting procedures, and financial workflows across three operating locations.
    • Serve as the primary accounting partner to operational and sales leadership throughout Florida.
    • Oversee project accounting and job costing, ensuring costs, labor, materials, subcontractors, and other project-related expenses are accurately assigned.
    • Monitor project budgets, actual costs, commitments, change orders, cost-to-complete estimates, and overall project profitability.
    • Prepare and maintain work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and assist with percentage-of-completion and other applicable revenue recognition methodologies.
    • Support compliance with US GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition requirements for project- and contract-based work.
    • Review project billing for accuracy, including time-and-material, progress, milestone, retainage, and other contract billing structures.
    • Monitor accounts receivable, unbilled revenue, collections, and cash flow associated with Florida operations.
    • Partner with project managers and operations leaders to review job performance, identify cost or margin variances, and improve forecasting accuracy.
    • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
    • Analyze operational and financial results and communicate key findings, trends, risks, and opportunities to the Senior Controller.
    • Help establish consistent financial reporting and accounting practices across the Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville locations.
    • Assist with internal controls, audit preparation, and maintaining accurate, audit-ready financial documentation.
    • Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems, processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
    • Travel periodically to the company’s Orlando and Jacksonville locations to work directly with operational and sales leadership.

     

    EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
    • 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within industrial services, construction, engineering, field services, specialty contracting, or another project-based environment.
    • Strong experience with project accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, and project profitability analysis.
    • Understanding of revenue recognition principles, including ASC 606 and percentage-of-completion accounting.
    • Experience supporting contract billing, accounts receivable, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end close.
    • Strong understanding of financial controls and general accounting principles.
    • Advanced Excel skills and experience working within ERP/accounting systems.
    • Ability to analyze financial information and communicate findings effectively to both accounting and non-financial operational leaders.
    • Highly organized with the ability to independently manage priorities in a growing environment.
    • Comfortable working in a role where processes may still be developing and where the successful candidate will be expected to build structure rather than simply inherit it.
    • Willingness to work primarily in-office in Tampa and travel periodically to Orlando and Jacksonville.
