Key Responsibilities for the Accounting Manager

• 
  
• Provide leadership and oversight to accounting personnel, supporting performance, professional development, and ongoing training initiatives.
• 
  
• Serve as a resource to team members by offering guidance, resolving issues, and helping ensure workload priorities are achieved.
• 
  
• Foster collaboration and accountability while promoting best practices across accounting functions.
• 
  
• Coordinate the preparation of recurring financial reports and management deliverables for executive leadership.
• 
  
• Oversee the accuracy and completeness of financial transaction recording performed by staff, ensuring compliance with internal reporting requirements.
• 
  
• Assist with financial planning activities, including forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and performance reporting.
• 
  
• Review reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial analyses to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• 
  
• Perform cash management and financial trend analysis and prepare special reports as requested by leadership.
• 
  
• Review monthly financial statements and operational performance reports for assigned business units or portfolios.

• Support strategic financial initiatives, including financing activities, process improvements, and other complex accounting projects.

• Evaluate financial results and identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.

• Monitor adherence to accounting policies, regulatory requirements, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• 
  
• Review contractual agreements and financial documentation to ensure compliance with established obligations and reporting standards.
• 
  
• Oversee fixed asset accounting and related recordkeeping activities.
• 
  
• Assist with internal and external audit requests, including preparation of supporting documentation and coordination with auditors.
• 
  
• Maintain and strengthen internal control processes designed to safeguard company assets and ensure reporting integrity.
• 
  
• Support accounting system maintenance, process enhancements, and special projects as needed.
• 
  

Qualifications for the Accounting Manager:

• 
  
• Current experience using Yardi
• 
  
• 5+ years of real estate accounting experience
• 
  
• Ability to demonstrate lead/supervisory type experience
•
