Accountant 1 (On-site)

We are seeking an Accountant 1 to support the financial administration of federal grant awards and agency contracts. This role is responsible for monitoring compliance with federal and state regulations, reviewing financial documentation, assisting with contract closeouts, and supporting fiscal reporting and analysis activities.

• Track receipt of required financial and contractual documentation and follow up with internal staff and providers as needed.
• Review provider-submitted financial reports for accuracy and compliance with approved budgets and grant awards.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in claims in collaboration with agency fiscal staff and providers.
• Identify fiscal trends, problem areas, and opportunities for process improvement.
• Assist with special projects and studies related to fiscal controls and financial processes.
• Prepare fiscal summaries, reports, and analyses for agency leadership.
• Monitor grant expenditures and funding activity to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements.
• Assist with contract reviews to ensure proper documentation is received prior to execution.
• Support annual direct contract closeouts through review of claims and financial-system-generated control reports.
• Assist with quarterly encumbrance reviews and related contract assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least 24 semester credit hours in Accounting and/or Auditing.
• Minimum of two (2) years of professional accounting or finance experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with federal grant regulations;
• Prior experience with federal grant claims and reimbursements.

Pay Range: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
