Position Overview

The Accounts Specialist III is mainly responsible for managing the activities related to contracts and grants awarded to the College by federal, state, local and private grantors.

What you will be doing

  • Manages College contracts & grant programs throughout the life of the programs; including but not limited to, establishes new accounts; monitors budget and actual spending; end of month accounting closing work; processes billings, reports, and cost transfers; prepares account reconciliations and analysis, and close out accounts
  • Provides support to faculty and staff with any issues related to the post-award financial functions
  • Performs other duties as assigned

What you need to succeed

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from a regionally accredited institution and four (4) years of successful accounting experience; or Associate's degree and two (2) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting and the ability to apply this knowledge to work situations
  • Knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations concerning financial record keeping
  • Ability to prepare complete and accurate accounting statements
  • Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data
  • Ability to supervise employees
  • Ability to express ones self clearly orally and in writing
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees or organization
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to work with students, faculty, and staff
