Pro Resources is seeking Cooks for a local retirement home. The Cook reports directly to the Chef or Chef Manager and is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals for breakfast, lunch, and catered events. This position plays an important role in maintaining food quality, safety, sanitation, and exceptional customer service while supporting the overall success of the kitchen operation.

Location: Fort Wayne, IN
Schedule: Full-Time & Part-Time Available
Shift: 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM with rotating weekends
Pay: Starting at $18.00 per hour
Essential Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and serve breakfast, lunch, and catered meals according to company recipes and standards.
- Inspect and clean food preparation areas, kitchen equipment, and work surfaces to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
- Operate commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, grills, slicers, steamers, mixers, dishwashers, coffee machines, and other food preparation equipment.
- Ensure food is cooked and stored at proper temperatures while following all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Monitor food quality, freshness, labeling, dating, and stock rotation procedures.
- Bake, roast, broil, grill, steam, and prepare meats, seafood, vegetables, and other menu items.
- Measure, weigh, mix, and season ingredients according to standardized recipes.
- Prepare fruits and vegetables by washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning.
- Trim, carve, and prepare meats and seafood for service.
- Assist with baking breads, rolls, desserts, and pastries as needed.
- Maintain clean workstations and assist with washing pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment when necessary.
- Assist with inventory management, product rotation, and forecasting food preparation needs.
- Prepare food stations according to company standards.
- Communicate equipment or supply needs to the Chef or Kitchen Manager.
- Provide friendly, professional customer service by greeting guests and ensuring timely meal service.
- Follow all company policies regarding food handling, sanitation, safety, productivity, and uniform standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

- Previous cooking or food service experience is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Work Environment
This position works primarily in a commercial kitchen where employees regularly operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, slicers, steamers, mixers, dishwashers, coffee machines, and chef's knives. The work environment includes frequent exposure to heat, steam, noise, and fast-paced kitchen operations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull.
- Lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Possess manual dexterity and the ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
