Who’s hiring this week and what the jobs report means for you

April was tough. The unemployment rate now sits at 14.7% and 20.5 million people lost their job in the past month. There are record-setting declines and job loss rates across industries, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The hospitality and leisure industries saw employment plummet by 47%, and more economic sectors also saw massive losses: entertainment, arts and recreation has 1.3 million fewer workers; healthcare declined by 1.4 million people; and retail dropped by 2.1 million people.

People are struggling – but there are still companies hiring, industries growing in response to the pandemic and job postings increasing across the country.

Here are the top companies hiring right now:

The employer with the most jobs open is CRST, International – a freight and logistics company. The other top four companies hiring now include Amazon, Home Instead, Home Depot and PetSmart.

Job titles that continue to grow:

These jobs are seeing the highest week-over-week growth: office and admin workers, sales managers, computer systems analysts, stock clerks and sales floor, and web developers.

Industries that continue to grow:

These industries are seeing the highest week-over-week growth: retail, transportation and warehousing, manufacturing, accommodation and food services, construction.

These 18 states are starting to show growth in available jobs.
