FEED

This role sits at the intersection of systems engineering and functional safety: the person in it will decompose system-level requirements across hardware, software, and mechanical subsystems, while ensuring that safety analysis and safety requirements are built into that architecture from the start rather than added afterward. This role will work directly with the teams designing sensing, compute, and actuation systems, and will be expected to make and defend technical tradeoffs that affect both system performance and safety posture.

Bedrock Robotics Inc

Systems Engineer, Safety

Were growing our sizable fleet of retrofitted autonomous construction machines and were looking for a motivated hardware engineering intern to support system testing and integration. Today, were deploying autonomous systems on heavy construction equipment across the country, improving safety on job sites and accelerating schedules on critical infrastructure projects.

Internship 2027 Hardware Engineer

Neural rendering is the next step: replacing hand-authored assets and approximations with learned representations that capture the visual complexity of real jobsites - dust, lighting, deformable terrain, heavy equipment in motion. The Simulation team builds the virtual environments our autonomy stack trains and tests against - and the closer sim looks and behaves like the real world, the faster we move.

2027 Internship Simulation Engineer, Neural Rendering

Onboard Control: Develop control laws for the base vehicle and automated arms, utilizing techniques such as MPC, Reinforcement Learning, linear and non linear control, computed torque, vehicle dynamics, and impedance control. You will be responsible for creating models to be used for onboard controls, as well as analyzing, evaluating and simulating the system dynamics of complex, 100,000-pound construction robots.

Controls and Robot Learning Engineer

Our internal team and purpose-built models label the data overnight and deliver actionable insights to superintendents by 5 AM. We are accelerating the speed, efficiency, and predictability of construction, especially for complex, mission-critical infrastructure projects, including data centers, LNG facilities, sports stadiums, hospitals, and other large-scale developments, by training AI models on egocentric construction footage and labor productivity data. Ironsite is backed by leading investors (8VC, South Park Commons, Saga Ventures) and prominent operators across technology and construction, including Eric Schmidt, Jeff Dean, Jeff Rothschild, Mark Leslie, Scott Wu, Eric Glyman, Karim Atiyeh, Russell Kaplan, and others, alongside over a dozen construction industry operators who have joined us as partners in building this.
