p>Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: - Patrol public areas, restricted spaces, and building entrances to maintain security and deter disruptive or unauthorized activity;
- Understand, operate, and monitor security systems and equipment, including cameras, access control systems, and screening devices, and report malfunctions or concerns to supervisory staff;
- Observe visitor activity and respond to disturbances, safety concerns, or potentially disruptive situations to help maintain a safe and orderly environment;
- Monitor entrances and exits of the building to ensure security and proper access control, and prevent unauthorized entry into restricted areas;
- Inspect facilities for hazardous or unsafe conditions and report concerns to appropriate staff to ensure timely correction;
- Respond to emergencies, including medical incidents, fires, alarms, or building evacuations, and assist with directing visitors and staff during emergency situations;
- Prepare written reports documenting incidents, security observations, and activities occurring during assigned shifts;
- Assist supervisory staff in maintaining security coverage during high-traffic periods, special events, or other operational needs; and.
Section 70.1 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in any of the following titles: Community Correctional Center Assistant, Correction Officer, or Security Services Assistant 1.
