Registered Respiratory Therapist who is responsible for performing various therapeutic procedures including advanced practice procedures such as, but not restricted to operating balloon pumps (IABP), delivering inhaled Epoprostenol, performing basic bedside respiratory parameters.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, delivers life-support, resuscitation, monitoring and various medical gases therapy primarily to critical care patients in the Intensive Care Units. Participates in orientation of staff and student training programs representing the Respiratory Therapy department in but not limited to, job shadowing, simulation training and teaching of core specific classes for Henry Ford Health System which is a teaching institution. Clinical Specialist will consistently exhibit interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with department leadership, staff, patients, physicians and other health personnel during all situations and in line with our mission and values.

Responsible for the proper and safe administration of respiratory care including intermittent and continuous therapy, blood gas sampling and analysis, mechanical ventilation, airway management and non-invasive oxygen and carbon dioxide monitoring of neonatal, newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.

• Requires the physical ability and stamina (i.e., to walk/stand for prolonged periods of time, push carts/wheelchairs up to 50 pounds, to position/lift patients at a maximum of 35 pounds unassisted, over 35 pounds requires assistance, provide CPR, etc.) to perform the essential functions of the position.
