Duties may include, but are not limited to: Provides advice and guidance to Police Service management officials and staff; Directs and supervises a variety of security and law enforcement assignments and projects performed on VA departmental property; Oversees policing activity and preliminary and/or supplemental investigation of crimes, interviewing victims, complainants, witnesses and suspects; Coordinates, oversees and provides security and assistance to Veterans, patients, employees, contractors, volunteers, affiliates, and visitors entering VA facilities; Protects high value assets from theft, intentional damage and unauthorized removal of government property; Performs various law enforcement and administrative functions throughout the department; Ensures law enforcement and security program policy, procedures and operational compliance; Establishes priorities to coordinate, plan, organize and complete work; Oversees human resource activities such as recruitment of vacancies; preparing, conducting and reviewing performance evaluations; takes disciplinary action; identifies and conducts specific training; approves and monitors leave requests; Responds to highly dangerous and active crimes in progress; Makes independent decisions to take, direct and coordinate immediate steps to preserve life and property; Conducts and/or coordinates long- and short-term investigations; Performs other related duties as assigned.
