Responsibilities: Works closely with the Director of Optometry Operations and other members of the clinic management team to:
- Provide prompt medical support; promote a smooth patient flow; collect and record data accurately; maintain order of exam rooms, equipment and ophthalmic supplies.
- Primary tasks are to interview patients and obtain chief compliant, ocular and medical histories, perform auto refraction, automated tonometry, lensometry, and ancillary ocular tests as directed by the Optometrist such as color vision tests (Ishiara or Farnsworth), depth perception, visual fields and retinal photos.
This may include but is not limited to: Tracking dates that concurrent reviews are due to third party payors; Obtaining updated clinical information from the EMR/Chart or the managed care forms filled out by case managers, and faxing to third party payors; Obtaining fax confirmation and making follow up calls to verify concurrent review information was received; Obtaining authorizations and documenting these with accuracy in the HMS financial system. San Joaquin Valley Rehabilitation Hospital, located in Fresno, CA, is a 62 bed acute rehab hospital, providing rehabilitative services to people recovering from disabilities caused by injuries or illnesses.
li>Visual Abilities: Sufficient visual acuity or other power of observation with or without reasonable accommodation to enable the employee to review a wide variety of materials in electronic or hard copy form and perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection). 6 or more years of experience in related grant writing and administration activities, including 3 years of experience researching, developing, and applying for grants and three years of demonstrated experience administering grants, including grant/writing/administration.
As a Medical Assistant, you will be preparing for each patient visit by preparing charts and pulling notes before their arrival, providing routine support alongside medical staff, and assisting with keeping track of tests and optical products reporting to ensure everything arrives on time and the patient is kept informed on their orders and care. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, an interest in learning more about a working in optometry environment, and has previous office experience if possible.
Works closely with the RDA Supervisor and other members of the clinic management team to: Provides prompt dental support; promotes a smooth patient flow; collects and records data accurately; maintains order of the back office, equipment and supplies. They work closely with our dentists and supervisors to ensure that patients are calm, dentists are prepared, and information is communicated clearly.
