Duties and Responsibilities: Measuring and configuring pipe routes, Gathering material and installation tools, Digging trenches using hand and machine trenching tools, Locating installed piping systems using magnetic or radio indicators, Removing old or broken piping systems, Laying pipes into trenches and applying pipe spacers, Checking pipe alignment and sealing pipes with cement glue, Installing auxiliary lines, Sealing exposed pipe joints and fittings, Filling and sealing pipe trenches, Spreading gravel, asphalt and other materials over surfaces, Set braces to support the sides of excavations, clean up debris and remove waste materials, Installation of erosion and sediment controls (i.e. silt fence, super silt fence, gutter buddies, etc.), Loading, unloading, transporting pipes, tools and equipment to the worksite, Basic knowledge of the different types of pipes, their installation methods, and plumbing/piping concepts, Must wear proper attire at all times including PPE, May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends, Additional duties as assigned. Job Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent required, Must have 2 years of experience working in heavy highway construction, Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans, Driver's license preferred with a clean driving record, Knowledge of sewer systems, storm drains, and water mains, Knowledge of the materials and equipment used in general street maintenance and construction work, Knowledge of the methods and practices of pouring and finishing concrete, OSHA 30 preferred, Flagger License desired, Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.
