Position Summary Responsible for the appropriate delivery of patient access services for one or more locations throughout Orlando Health as assigned with combined total net operating revenue of $200 million and higher.

Contact patient via phone (with as much advance notice as possible, preferably 72 hours prior to date of service) to confirm or obtain missing demographic information, quote/collect patient cost share, and instruct patient on where to present at time of appointment. The Patient Access Representative is responsible for promoting and demonstrating Parrish Healthcare’s Culture of Choice®; timely and accurate processes associated with pre-registration, insurance verification, pre-certification, and insurance notification.

Demonstrates expertise with all proficiencies of a PAS 2. Responsible for verifying demographic, confidential clinical and financial information necessary to accurately and efficiently execute insurance verifications, notifications, authorizations, pre-certifications, et al, to support claim processing and reimbursement for scheduled and unscheduled hospital services. Works directly with nurses, medical staff, ancillary departments, insurance carriers, care management/utilization, HIMS, scheduling, and other external professionals to assist patients with obtaining health care and financial services Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Assists the divisional director in development, implementation and evaluation of on going service programs that assure quality nursing and patient care programs consistent with hospital mission. Conduct benefit investigations for patients by making outbound phone call to payers to verify patient insurance benefit information, navigate complex reimbursement barriers and seek resources to overcome the barriers. The BilingualPatient Access Specialist will support the healthcare providers addressing questions regarding coding and billing and navigating complex reimbursement issues.
