Working under the direction of the nurse leader and supervising provider, the Dermatology Assistant integrates the responsibilities of a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) and a Clinical Scribe, with added dermatology-specific tasks such as biopsy preparation, assisting with procedures, and post-visit coordination. Documents clinical encounters in real time during exams, procedures, and education sessions, including patient history, provider findings, diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up plans in the electronic medical record (EMR).
