Responsibilities: Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization’s values; adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality; assists with orientation of new employees as assigned; supervises a variety of technical employees as assigned; installs, maintains, operates, and repairs electric motors, generators, and related electrical and mechanical equipment using applicable hand and power tools; installs, maintains, and repairs lighting, circuitry components, alarm systems, plumbing systems and components such as piping, values, sinks, sanitary fixtures, and fire suppression components, HVAC systems and components such as boilers, steam and gas piping and valves, chillers, pumps, direct expansion units, ventilation and exhaust fans, pneumatic and electric control systems, and medical gas systems and components; performs chemical treatment tests for boilers and cooling water; performs a variety of construction, installation, repair and alterations to: brick, concrete, and other masonry building components, roofing systems and components, floor surfaces such as vinyl and ceramic tile, and carpet, wall components such as metal studs and sheet rock, and woodwork such as cabinets and furniture; operates power tools and equipment such as lathes, drill press, threading machine, grinding machine, electric and acetylene welding rigs; utilizes proper body mechanics to move equipment and supplies, weighing up to 50 lbs. utilizes assistive devices or seeks assistance to move equipment weighing greater than 50 lbs; climbs ladders and scaffolding and navigates confined, obstructed, and difficult to access spaces and equipment while performing assigned duties; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and other hospital staff in person and via telephone.
