div> div> li> Assists patient and provider with virtual health visits which may include setting up the visit through appropriate platform, pre-charting the virtual visit prior to the scheduled appointment, contacting the patient to ensure preparedness for the virtual visit, troubleshooting virtual visit issues when needed, obtaining chief complaint and health maintenance checks, medication review, and other relevant patient details prior to the actual virtual visit. Under the direction of the provider, the Medical Assistant contributes to the completion of the patient's chief complaint (including, but not limited, to respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, height, weight, and temperature), documents patient/family needs, participates in planning and implementing care for patients, and administers ordered medications (oral, injection, topically, etc.) within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines. Assisting adult/pediatric patients with toileting needs in relation to their age including emptying established colostomy bags and urinary catheter removal. Assists with admission of patients to the unit by preparing room, greeting, and orienting patient and/or family to the unit (bed, call light, phone, TV). Provides participant care based upon individualized plan of care as directed by the Interdisciplinary Team, including the participants' physical, emotional needs, cultural, spiritual, psychosocial, and educational needs. Responsible for the collection of data related to participant status; performance of basic nursing procedures; ongoing collection and documentation of participant data; assistance with treatments and procedures; and assistance with maintenance of patient care equipment. Assisting adult/pediatric patients with toileting needs in relation to their age including emptying established colostomy bags and urinary catheter removal. Assists with admission of patients to the unit by preparing room, greeting, and orienting patient and/or family to the unit (bed, call light, phone, TV). The Medical Assistant 2 performs clinical duties such as discussing symptoms and gathering and inputting information into the electronic medical records system, taking vital signs, giving injections, performing diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms at an outpatient care site. Active Medical Assistant Certification or Registration from the following: American Association of Medical Assistant (AAMA), National Healthcareer Association, American Registry of Medical Assistants, National Association for Health Professionals, and/or American Medical Technologist. Certified medical assistant" or "CMA" means a person who: (1) has completed: (a) a medical assisting education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or its successor, by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools or its successor, or by any accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education, and which must include courses or components in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, medical laboratory techniques, and clinical experience, provided the clinical experience component may be satisfied through an individual''s work experience with a health care employer; (b) a Career and Technical Education Health Sciences Program approved by the South Carolina Department of Education; (c) a medical assisting program provided by a branch of the United States military; (d) a medical assisting United States Department of Labor-approved Registered Apprenticeship program; or. DUTIES PERFORMED: Trains and develops skills in using the approved EHR, Chart Prep, Nursing Procedures, Standing Orders / Labs, Patient Flow, Clinical Equipment, Exam Room Prep / Cleaning and Referral Tracking. Lab assistants will work with the Lab Techs in the department to ensure specimens are processed appropriately as needed, load/unload the automation line, investigate automation line errors and issues, investigate specimen issues, assist lab techs with department maintenance including automation line, centrifuges, refrigerators, and freezers as needed, and other job duties as assigned. In the Referrals Lab at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System- Lab Assistants will rotate between inpatient specimen receiving, outpatient registrations, and MGC/ICC specimen receiving. Responsibilities include training and coaching employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, addressing complaints, resolving problems, and under the direction of the General Manager or senior manager the disciplining of employees.
