The Data System Specialist identifies and collates information needed for requested reports, and designs and implements database systems, monitors effectiveness of computer systems, provides education and training on systems changes, and prepares statistically valid reports. The TDSS is responsible for abstracting information from patient records to assign external cause codes, Trauma Scores, Glasgow Coma Scale scores, ISS, AIS, and ICD-10 codes for all patients meeting trauma registry criteria.
