p>Essential Functions: • Performs skilled analysis, repair, and maintenance of equipment, systems, and vehicles; • Leads fabrication and modifications of equipment, systems, and facilities based on verbal instructions, sketches, or technical drawings; • Inspects, services, and maintains tools, equipment, and vehicles; • Conducts quality-control analysis on equipment and systems, implementing necessary corrective actions for optimal performance; • Inspects, approves, or certifies the work of others, if certified or authorized; • Maintains detailed records of activity, operations, service, and usage for equipment, vehicles, and systems; • Prepares oral and written activity reports and estimates for complex operations, maintenance, and special projects; • Prepares sketches and drawings to communicate work plans to supervisors, subordinates, and contractors; • Coordinates activities with other units, agencies, or contractors to ensure efficient resource use and minimize disruptions; • Monitors contractor performance, including goods and services provided; • Conducts on-the-job training for employees in the assigned work-unit; • Manages the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with safety protocols; • Maintains security and accountability for all tools, equipment, and materials, especially in sensitive environments (e.g., medical, law enforcement, correctional settings); • Ensures the use of safety and personal protective equipment and implements work-site traffic control procedures; • Oversees the maintenance and care of turf grasses, trees, and ornamental shrubs, including pest control, fertilization, and addressing plant health issues. Some positions require the ability to:
• lift and carry up to seventy-five pounds; • safely operate assigned vehicles and other powered equipment; • work in extremes of heat, humidity, dust, cold; • safely wear required safety clothing/equipment; • work with on in the presence of obnoxious odors; • work with noxious or potentially hazardous chemicals, compounds or products; • ascend and descend ladders and stairs to reach and work upon elevated or below-grade work platforms and job sites; • differentiate between colors.
