This role serves as the Energy Business Unit's (BU) principal technology strategist within Market Development, translating macro grid trends, Utility, Independent Power Producer (IPP), and large load investment patterns, regulatory shifts, and emerging architectures into a coherent technology roadmap, intellectual property (IP) strategy, and brand position for AFL's portfolio of optical, electrical, and power-delivery solutions. Aging transmission and distribution infrastructure must absorb unprecedented load growth from electrification and AI-driven data centers, integrate variable renewable generation at scale, and harden against extreme weather and physical threats - all while operating reliably across a converging grid that no longer operates siloed between electric utility front-of-the-meter (FTM) and non-utility behind-the-meter (BTM) systems.

AFL provides industry-leading solutions, products and services to the electric utility, broadband, communications, OEM, enterprise, wireless and transit rail markets as well as the emerging markets of oil and gas, mining, nuclear, avionics, medical, renewable and intelligent grid. We manufacture, engineer and install fiber optic products and associated equipment.

This includes:

    fiber optic cable
    transmission and substation accessories
    fiber outside plant equipment
    fiber inside plant equipment
    connectors and accessories
    fusion splicers
    test and inspection equipment
    training

AFL's service portfolio includes market-leading positions with the foremost communications companies supporting central office, outside plant, wireless and enterprise areas.

Whether you need to build a network, upgrade your broadband system, expand a central office or connect a campus through fiber optics, AFL connects you with the solutions that fit your every need.
