The Operating Room at BJH is separated into five Pods that each align with different surgical specialties: Pod 1: Pelvic specialties: gynecology, urology, colorectal, and general surgery Pod 2: Trauma, trauma services (wound treatment), reconstructive surgery for ortho (hip/knee replacement, orthoscopic knee and shoulder) and plastics repair Pod 3: Cardiac, transplant, vascular, hepatobiliary Pod 4: Ophthalmology, Ortho, ENT, MIS, Plastics, and General Oncology Pod 5: Ortho, Spine, Neuro, and bigger ENT cases (example teeth extractions). Uses established safety techniques in preparing for and assisting with surgical procedures; provides and sets up necessary instruments, supplies and equipment for different types of surgeries or procedures according to established safety requirements and preferences of physician.
