Operates a variety of equipment, machinery and tools used in construction, maintenance and repair of power distribution systems (which may include a dump truck, backhoe, trencher, bucket truck, line truck, forklift, boring rig, tension rig, tamp, tractor, chipper, stump grinder, phasing stick, voltage ohmmeter, breakers, regulators, hydraulic tools, jackhammer, air compressor, pipe horn, post hole digger, shovel, axe, saw, chain saw, mechanic tools, cable/chain/nylon-belt hoists and other related equipment).Performs routine general maintenance tasks necessary to maintain machinery, equipment and tools in operable condition (which may include inspecting equipment, checking fluid levels, replacing fluids, greasing equipment, washing/cleaning equipment, cleaning shop and work areas, etc.); monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; reports faulty equipment. Performs manual work functions associated with power distribution maintenance as well as construction, maintenance and repair of power distribution systems (which may include assisting with laying/installing pipe, boring under roads/driveways, pouring concrete, trimming tree limbs and bushes, digging holes or trenches, driving ground rods, shoveling materials, lifting/moving heavy materials, flagging traffic, etc.).Performs leadership and training associated with the operating of a directional drill to install conduit/cable to support electrical and telecommunications networks; may install potable water lines and high/low pressure gas lines.
