Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures; Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports; Compiles payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, 401 (k) deductions, hours worked, sales or piecework, taxes, insurance, and employee identification number, from time sheets and other records; Prepares computer input forms, enters data into computer files, or computes wages and deductions and posts to payroll records; Responds to employee/client questions regarding pay; Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll; Records changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records; Records data concerning transfer of employees between departments; Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions; Prepares weekly, monthly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.) for management; Keeps records of leave pay and nontaxable wages; Prepares and issues paychecks; Responsible for mailing W-2's; Handles duties of Billing Accountant in their absence; Performs other office duties as needed to ensure smooth financial processes.
