Candidates must qualify for the Bridge Academy through one of the following eligibility pathways: The candidate has graduated from a Central Arizona Life Safety Council (CALSC) regional training academy, has a gap in professional firefighter employment of less than one year, and is currently certified to practice emergency medical care through the Arizona Department of Health Services as an Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic; orThe candidate is currently working as a full-time, paid professional firefighter within the State of Arizona, possesses valid Arizona Firefighter I and Firefighter II certifications, and is currently certified to practice emergency medical care through the Arizona Department of Health Services as an Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic. Knowledge of: -Principles, practices, and procedures of modern firefighting; -Fire prevention principles and practices; -Emergency Medical Technician basic life-support procedures and paramedic support procedures; -Extrication and the use of extrication tools; -Departmental policies, rules, and instructions for firefighting and rescue activities; -Basic mathematical and science skills; -Principles and practices of safe motor vehicle operation and maintenance; -City geography and street systems; and -Modern office technology.
