p>Abilities (position requirements at entry): • Ability to: • Work a variety of shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays as needed • Be flexible with changing assignments • Follow written and verbal instructions and direction • Walk, dig trenches, climb ladders and clean-up work sites in a neat and orderly fashion (if applicable to assignment) • Safely operate and handle equipment and supplies • Work around pesticides and in landscapes • Communicate effectively • Learn general layout of facility to provide assistance to patrons • Perform basic math when assigned • Maintain a neat and professional appearance • Follow all City safety rules and procedures and immediately report all accidents/incidents or unsafe conditions to a supervisor • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Positions in this class typically require:
• Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, lifting, gripping/grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body • Incumbents may be subject to frequent walking, climb relatively steep inclines and/or ladders, and physically demanding manual labor such as raking and digging • Incumbents may be subject to frequent environmental exposures to dusts, odors, chemicals, sun, heat, cold, moisture, and other extreme climate/weather conditions.
