In order to qualify for the position of Building Code Specialist III, you must possess CASp certification or qualification to sit for the registration exams as a Civil Engineer with the California State Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, or possess qualification to sit for the California Supplemental Examination with the California Architects Board. CASp certification or qualification to sit for the registration exam as a Civil Engineer with the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers or qualification to sit for the registration exams as an Architect with the California Architects Board is required.

The engineer will work closely with design engineers technicians manufacturing teams and test engineers to develop hardware improve build processes and support delivering rapid hardware iterations in a fast-paced development environment. Lead the build test and integration of complex aerospace mechanisms including the spike inlet mechanism flow control door mechanisms and associated hydraulic actuators valves linkages and structural assemblies.

p>RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and perform acceptance testing of manufacturing processes, techniques, and tools to enable efficient and high-rate manufacturing • Design and implement precision tooling to eliminate assembly error, improve quality, and minimize cycle time • Question requirements, delete parts and processes, simplify/optimize, accelerate, and automate hardware production • Develop and/or automate in-situ inspection techniques to increase yield and decrease cycle time • Manage transition of parts and assemblies from development to high-rate production • Resolve and analyze manufacturing discrepancies while interfacing with the quality team (resolving issues for design, fabrication, and assembly) • Partner with engineering and production teams to generate ideas, designs, and improvements for current and next-generation vehicles.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Master's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, materials or industrial engineering • Experience with the build, assembly, or integration of large mechanical assemblies • Knowledge of metallic manufacturing techniques, processes, and equipment related to welding, metal forming, fastening, drilling, bonding and automation • Mechanical component and/or tooling design and analysis experience using 3D CAD software • Experience with design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) • Experience transitioning complex products from R&D to high-volume manufacturing in a fast-paced environment • Experience writing work instructions and procedures for critical aerospace parts.
