Specific courses include SPN 380 Medical and Public Health Spanish, which focuses on vocabulary specific to human physiology and pathology, public health issues affecting Latino communities, and continued professionalization of spoken and written Spanish; and SPN 480 Introduction to Medical Interpretation, which is the capstone of the medical Spanish minor and introduces students to sight translation and consecutive interpretation in healthcare contexts, while continuing vocabulary acquisition. Effective ability to use and learn computers, technology, software, and applications at level of sophistication required for teaching duties including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), the internet, and learning and course management systems (Canvas and Banner).
