Qualifications: Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree in Theatre from an accredited college or university Valid Texas teaching certificate in theatre ESL Certification preferred or ESL Certification required within two (2) years of employment beginning with teachers hired in 2010-11 school year Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of overall operation of theatre program Able to manage budget and personnel Knowledge of state, UIL, TETA, and ITS policies governing theatre activities Able to interpret policy, procedures, and data Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills Experience: Three (3) years teaching experience and Theatre directing/technical experience preferred Experience with one act play required Major Responsibilities and Duties: Instructional Strategies Direct high school theatre students in various educational theatre components including, but not limited to, acting, costuming, make-up, set design and construction, lighting, sound, technical, and directing. Probationary contract - 197 days plus 4 days of Alief U professional development for a teacher new to the district 2025-2026 Salary Schedule Minimum teacher salary is $66,500 (base $64,100 + $2,400 Teacher Retention Allotment (TRA) Stipend) 2025-2026 Teacher Salary Schedule Salary is based on 197 days.
