Youth & Families Support Services Manager Reports To Executive Director Status Full-time Exempt About Project VISION Project VISION is a nonprofit organization with a mission to help youth of Chicagos Greater Chinatown community achieve their full potential by providing them with tools for educational personal and civic development. PV serves over 500 middle and high school youth each year out of its two Chinatown youth centers as well as three local school-based sites. We are seeking a mission-driven and energetic individual to join our team and serve as the Youth & Families Support Services Manager. Position Summary The Youth & Families Support Services Manager plays a key leadership role in strengthening student engagement family partnerships and youth support systems across the organization. This position oversees student support and engagement efforts staff training related to youth development and behavioral health family engagement initiatives and the continued evolution of PVs support services model. This role combines direct student and family support with coaching and consultation for program staff. The Support Services Manager serves as a resource for navigating student behavioral emotional social and family-related challenges while helping staff implement positive youth development and trauma-informed practices in day-to-day programming. The organization is currently reassessing and redesigning its case management model due to historically low utilization and engagement. Rather than carrying an ongoing intensive caseload this role will help evaluate existing systems identify opportunities for improvement and support the gradual development of responsive student support structures aligned with organizational needs and capacity. The Youth & Families Support Services Manager will supervise one direct report focused on parent and family engagement and will collaborate closely with program staff and organizational leadership to improve student attendance engagement and overall program experience. The ideal candidate is a relationship-centered and collaborative leader who is passionate about supporting young people and strengthening youth-serving practices across an organization. They are comfortable balancing direct student support with staff coaching systems improvement and family engagement. This person is proactive organized adaptable and committed to helping students remain connected engaged and supported. Key Responsibilities Student Support & Youth Development Provide direct support to students and families experiencing behavioral emotional social or situational challenges. Serve as a thought partner and consultant to program staff navigating student support concerns. Support low-volume youth and family crisis response situations and coordinate referrals to outside providers or community resources when appropriate. Help foster a safe supportive and relationship-centered environment for middle and high school youth. Promote positive youth development and trauma-informed practices across programs. Staff Training & Capacity Building Develop and facilitate trainings and professional development opportunities for youth workers and program staff on topics including Positive youth development Adolescent behavior and mental health Trauma-informed practices De-escalation and crisis response Relationship-building strategies Family engagement Provide ongoing coaching and support to staff related to student engagement and support practices. Stay informed on emerging best practices in youth development and student support services. Student Enrollment Cohorting & Engagement Partner with program leadership and operations team to oversee the student enrollment and cohort assignment processes to ensure students are connected to consistent adult support and appropriate peer groups. Partner with program staff to monitor student attendance participation and engagement. Develop systems and strategies to support student retention and re-engagement when attendance concerns arise. Collaborate with students families and staff to identify and address barriers to participation. Family Engagement & Parent Education Oversee parent and family engagement initiatives designed to strengthen family connection to the organization and support student success. Supervise the Family Engagement Coordinator direct report and support their primary program the Parent Mentor Program. Support the development of workshops events communications and resources for families. Build strong collaborative relationships with parents and caregivers. Support Services Program Development Partner with the Executive Director and senior program staff to reassess and redesign the organizations support services and case management approach. Review historical practices utilization trends and organizational needs to identify opportunities for improvement. Research and incorporate youth development and student support best practices from the field. Help develop systems processes referral pathways and documentation practices that support effective and sustainable service delivery. Support future expansion of support services as organizational capacity grows. Collaboration & Organizational Leadership Collaborate across teams to align student support efforts with organizational goals and program quality standards. Assist with tracking and reporting student engagement and support-related data. Contribute to organizational planning and continuous improvement efforts. Serve as a collaborative and solutions-oriented member of the leadership team. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Social Work Counseling Education Psychology Human Services or a related field. Minimum of 4 years of experience working directly with middle school andor high school youth. Strong understanding of positive youth development adolescent development and trauma-informed practices. Experience supporting youth and families facing behavioral emotional social or family-related challenges. Experience facilitating training and workshops for staff development. Experience supervising and managing others Strong relationship-building communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with staff families and organizational leadership. Ability to maintain professionalism discretion and sound judgment in sensitive situations. Professional working proficiency in Chinese Cantonese andor Mandarin Familiarity with and a demonstrated commitment to working with AAPI immigrant communities such as our local Chinatown community Preferred Qualifications Masters degree in Counseling Social Work Education or a related field. LPC or LCPC credential preferred. Experience in youth-serving nonprofits schools or community-based organizations. Experience developing or improving student support systems family engagement practices or case management approaches.
